Before Trimming Wig Lace: A Beginner's Preparation Checklist
Share
Lace trimming is a preparation step that cannot be reversed. Set up carefully and confirm the piece is right before deciding where to cut.
Finish the initial inspection
Check the selected option and fit, and contact the retailer about any concern before altering the item. Read the instructions for that construction. Excess lace, seams and knotted areas are not interchangeable cutting guides.
Use a safe working arrangement
Work in good light, without rushing, and keep sharp tools away from your skin. Do not stretch the lace to make it easier to cut. If you cannot clearly identify what should be removed, ask a stylist experienced with wigs rather than following a generic line from a video.
Be conservative
Different pieces need different preparation. A zigzag edge or a particular pair of scissors is not a universal requirement. Avoid cutting into hair knots or structural areas. Check the result gradually; taking away more lace will not correct an unsuitable cap size or a poor installation method.
Options to explore
These are product examples to compare alongside the guidance, not a requirement to buy another piece.
