Long Wigs and Winter Coats: Reducing Everyday Tangles
Share
Long hair can catch against a coat collar, scarf or bag strap during colder months. Small changes to how you arrange it can make the end-of-day detangling easier.
Keep lengths free of straps
Before putting a bag over your shoulder, lift the hair clear so it is not trapped underneath. Check the nape after wrapping a scarf. Avoid pulling the entire wig to free caught ends; release the trapped section instead.
Use a loose, suitable arrangement
Depending on the construction and style, keeping the lengths loosely gathered may reduce rubbing. Do not create a tight hairstyle that pulls on the hairline. Check that any clip or tie is positioned safely and does not snag the lace.
Dry after damp weather
An umbrella or hood can help protect the style, but dampness can still reach the hair and cap. Let the piece dry properly before storage, away from a radiator. Gently separate tangles starting at the ends. If winter clothing repeatedly makes a very long style inconvenient, you can choose a different length for those days without abandoning the styles you enjoy.
